Privacy policy
The short version: this site collects almost nothing about you, and what little it does store stays on your own device.

What this site does not do: it does not sell your personal information, it does not share it with data brokers, it does not run advertising, it does not use affiliate tracking links, and it does not build a profile of you.
The rest of this page explains the small amount that does happen, in plain terms.
What gets stored on your device
The games and the light/dark switch remember a few things using your browser’s local storage. This is not a cookie and it is not sent anywhere — it sits on your own computer or phone and only this website can read it. Here is the complete list:

Your game scores are not sent to us. There is no leaderboard, and we have no idea how you did.
When you contact us
If you use the contact form, you give us your name, your email address, the reason you picked, and whatever you write in the message. We use that to reply to you, and for nothing else.
The form is handled by Formspree, a service that receives the submission and forwards it to us by email. Formspree stores the message on their servers as part of delivering it, under their own privacy policy. Your message also then sits in an ordinary email inbox, the same as any email you send anybody.
We keep contact messages for as long as the conversation is useful, and we delete them when it is not. We do not add you to any mailing list — there isn’t one.
If you send us a photo of your dog
You are invited to submit your dog as a mystery dog for Guess the Breed. If you do, understand that the photo is meant to be published on this site for people to look at and guess about. That is the whole point of sending it.
When you submit a photo you are telling us you have the right to share it, and you are giving us permission to publish it here. We will not put your name, your dog’s name, your location, or your contact details next to it unless you specifically ask us to. If you change your mind later, write to us and we will take it down.
What the web host records
The site runs on WordPress, hosted by Bluehost. Like essentially every web server on the internet, it writes a log line when a page is requested. That line typically includes your IP address, the time, the page you asked for, and what browser you used. These logs exist for security and troubleshooting, they are handled by the host, and we do not read them, analyse them, or connect them to anything else.
WordPress itself may set a cookie if you leave a comment or log in to the site. If you are just reading, it does not.
Third parties
This section is short on purpose, and we would like to keep it that way.
Fonts. The typefaces on this site are hosted on our own server. Many sites load fonts from Google, which quietly sends every visitor’s IP address to Google on every page view. This site does not do that.
YouTube. The DoggyTV page links out to our YouTube channel. Following that link takes you to YouTube, where Google’s privacy policy applies and not ours. We are not responsible for what happens once you are over there.
Analytics. We do not use Google Analytics, advertising pixels, or any other visitor-tracking service.
Advertising and affiliate links. There are none. If that ever changes, this page will say so before it happens.
Children
This site is written for adults who like dogs. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect anything from them. If you believe a child has sent us their information through the contact form, write to us and we will delete it.
Your rights
Because we hold so little, most requests have a short answer. Still, you are entitled to ask us to:
- Tell you what information we hold about you
- Correct anything that is wrong
- Delete it
- Send you a copy of it
- Stop using it
To ask for any of these, use the contact form and say what you want. We will respond within 30 days. We will not charge you and we will not ask you to justify yourself.
If you are in Minnesota, the Minnesota Consumer Data Privacy Act gives residents these rights against larger businesses. This site is well under the size that law covers, but we will honour the requests anyway.
If you are in the UK or the European Union, the UK GDPR and the GDPR give you the same rights and a few more, including the right to complain to your national data protection authority. Our lawful basis for handling a contact-form message is your consent, given when you press send, and you can withdraw it at any time by asking us to delete the message.
How things are kept
The site is served over HTTPS, so what passes between your browser and the server is encrypted. Contact messages sit in an email account protected by a strong, unique password and two-factor authentication. No system is perfect, and we will not pretend otherwise — but there is very little here worth stealing, which is itself a kind of protection.
Changes to this policy
If what the site does changes — a mailing list, advertising, an embedded video player, anything that touches your data — this page gets updated first, and the date at the top changes with it. We will not quietly start collecting something and tell you afterwards.
